Guitarist shines in Symphony Concert

Caballero, who last year won first prize in the prestigious Naumburg International Competition made a serious claim to personal dominion over the Concierto de Aranjuez of Joaquín Rodrigo.In the fiery first movement, Caballero displayed ardent passions that have come to characterize music from Spain. In the adagio second movement of the Rodrigo, Caballero revealed another aspect of that passion: a fire tempered at moments by a restraint nearly languorous. The several facets of Rodrigo revealed not only Caballero’s consummate musicianship but also found the orchestra in deft accompaniment with the soloist. Back To Reviews |
